Some other levels which I mention above are more story driven levels that involve just moving Freddy from part a to part b of the screen. Both these levels just involve moving Freddy for a period of time, there is no challenge at all. The levels kinda fall short in some like swimming in the aquarium or the water cooler level. Unfortunately this is where the fun levels end and there are plenty of story bases levels in this game compared to the first. There are only 40 levels this time but it still has plenty of fun going levels from The Floor is Lava, Foosball and Pong. Thats right, Freddy is in the workforce and all your levels revolve around the office. The story of this game is - Freddy has a Job. Freddy 2 has these same aspects but on a smaller level compared to the first game. Very unique and challenging in some areas. Your beloved spaghetti stand is back with Freddy Spaghetti 2 or how Freddy likes to be called - 2.0 When I first play the first game of Freddy Spaghetti I was overwhelmed with happiness and thought it was an absolutely fantastic game. You even get the PS4 & PS5 versions available in one purchase. Yes, Freddy Spaghetti 2 is a straightforward platinum in the finest Ratalaika tradition. Playful Pasta haven’t bothered and to be honest, neither should you. It’s the clear lack of any sort of flair that has us not arsed in the slightest. Graphically it’s no different from the first game, nor are the controls any kind of departure. Heck, fuck it off altogether and watch the Parks & Rec episode of the same name. If you’ve picked up on our general lack of enthusiasm here, it’s because you’ll be hard pressed to garner any sort of passion or excitement from Freddy Spaghetti 2. Heck, it’s Mrs Brown’s Boys, except this isn’t inexplicably popular like Brendan O’Carroll’s woefully average sitcom. It’s an Ed Sheeran album that’ll sell millions by sheer virtue of being Ed Sheeran. It’s any number of 8:30pm forgettable TV comedy panel shows on BBC1. So yes, Freddy Spaghetti 2 is bang average. Perhaps they figured the first game didn’t sell too well due to the whole signal/noise ratio and discoverability on the PSN store, but fucking hell, at least try to make it look like you’re bothered. After the admittedly occasionally teeth gnashingly difficult levels of the first game, it all adds to the feeling that Playful Pasta simply couldn’t be bothered to put any real effort in here. Only the levels are all set in the office environment and some are so short as to be pointless.Īs well as being short, most of the levels are entirely devoid of any sort of challenge. How this pans out practically is levels are interspersed with vox pops to camera, a little like the cutaways in The Office TV show. Across its forty levels, Freddy Spaghetti 2 is the story, such as it is, is that Freddy needs to get a job. Unfortunately it seems that Playful Pasta couldn’t really be that bothered with any sort of variety. So you might think that Freddy Spaghetti 2 would stick to the same formula. They required a fair bit of skill to negotiate the levels and while a platinum trophy was never in doubt, it didn’t feel like an overly easy effort. One of the good things about the first game was the imagination and sheer variety on offer across the fifty levels on offer. You might then conclude that a sequel would be more of the same.
